OUR JOURNEY
Our Story
From a seed of purpose to a growing movement—redefining community, rewriting narratives, and rebuilding lives.
A Message from Our Founder

S. Danielle Dallis-Hairston
Founder & CEO
Women Just Like Me grew out of the lived experiences of women who recognized a need for safe, supportive spaces where girls and women could discover their identities, receive emotional support, and form meaningful connections. What began as a vision firm in purpose faced its first major test at the very start of its journey: the global COVID-19 pandemic.
Our founder launched the first Victory in Self-Awareness program in January 2020, only to face the global COVID-19 pandemic weeks later. Rather than retreat, we shifted online and successfully trained 17 participants. That season of adversity became the fertile soil where our mission took root.
Over the next few years, our work expanded into a movement that includes mental-health awareness initiatives, the Girls of Destiny Summer Camp, Mothering Milestones, and the Love, Respect & Value Her Cotillion.
Today, we serve more than 600 girls and women across Central Ohio and beyond.
Our Mission
Women Just Like Me’s mission is to improve the socio-economic position of families that have limited access to mental health, emotional wellness, positive parenting, and family wellbeing by providing culturally responsive programs that empower girls, strengthen parents, and support the growth of healthy, thriving communities.
